I spent some time this week looking at some of the skin care blogs out there and was particularly impressed and inspired by the blog Chemist Confessions.  While most skin care blogs I’ve found focus on product reviews, this blog focuses on a scientific understanding of the topic.  Written by two female chemists who previously worked in beauty industry, Chemist Confessions is written with a strong understanding of science yet easy for the layperson to read and understand, in a voice that is casual, yet professional.  I highly recommend that anyone interested in a better understanding of their skin follow this blog.

Their post, A Chemists’ Introduction to Acne, offers a basic understanding of the causes of acne, a simple home-routine for treating acne at home, followed by a list and definition of the most commonly scene acne-fighting ingredients.  Since acne is such a layered subject, they go on to offer other more sources to get deeper into the topic.
